🎯 Objective

Have the lowest total score when any player reaches 100 points. Low cards are good; high cards are bad. Negative cards (-2, -1) are excellent.

⚙ Setup

  1. 1 Shuffle all 150 cards and deal 12 face-down to each player.
  2. 2 Each player arranges their 12 cards in a 4-column × 3-row grid without looking at them.
  3. 3 Each player flips any 2 of their cards face-up. The remaining 10 stay face-down.
  4. 4 Place one card face-up to start the discard pile. The rest form the draw pile.
  5. 5 The player with the highest total of their 2 visible cards goes first.

▶ On Your Turn

Option A: Draw from deck

Draw the top card. Either swap it with any card in your grid (the replaced card is discarded face-up), or discard the drawn card and flip any face-down card in your grid.

Option B: Take from discard pile

Take the top card from the discard pile. You must swap it with any card in your grid. The replaced card goes to the discard pile face-up.

⚡ Column Rule (Key Mechanic)

Whenever you complete a column of 3 identical cards (same number, vertical column only), that entire column is immediately removed from your grid and discarded. Those cards score zero points. This is the most powerful move in the game.

🏁 Ending a Round

A round ends when one player flips their last face-down card. All other players get one final turn. Then everyone flips all remaining face-down cards and scores are tallied.

⚠ Doubling Penalty

If the player who ended the round does not have the lowest score, their round score is doubled. This only applies to the current round score, not the total game score.

📈 Scoring & Winning

Add up all visible card values in your grid. Record scores after each round. The game ends when any player reaches 100 points or more. The player with the lowest total score wins. Ties are shared wins.

SKYJO 2-Player Rules

SKYJO plays great with 2 players using the standard rules. A few tips specific to 2-player games:

Common SKYJO Rules Questions

Does the doubling penalty apply if I tie for lowest score?

Yes. You must have strictly the lowest score to avoid the penalty. A tie still triggers the doubling.

Can you score negative points?

Yes! Cards with values -2, -1, and 0 give you negative or zero points, which is excellent for keeping your total low.

Can I look at my face-down cards?

No. Once a card is face-down, you cannot look at it until it is flipped during play. This memory element is core to the game.

What if there is a tie at the end of the game?

If two or more players share the lowest total score, they all win. There is no tiebreaker in the official rules.
